Minneapolis Comedy - Entertainment In Minnesota

Whether you're headed out on the town for a social gathering of a large
group or a date with your special person, you can't go wrong with
visiting one of the Minneapolis comedy clubs. Minneapolis is about as
Midwest as you can get, but the big name acts that perform on the East
and West Coasts make Minneapolis a regular stop. The popular comedians
make up a large part of the Minneapolis nightlife.
A night at a Twin Cities comedy club doesn't have to break the bank. A
relatively new venue in Bloomington offers shows three or four times a
week usually for $15 or less. Along with a an array of local funny
entertainers, well known local favorites like Wayne Burfeind and Diane
Ford perform regularly. Over the past year the Joke Joint is steadily
gaining in popularity.
If merely affordable isn't enough, the Twin Cities offers comedy venues
even for those who seek free entertainment. Minneapolis's Acme Comedy
Club, formerly Sticks Restaurant, serves up food and free comedy. And
if that's not enough they also host local open mic nights where you can
try out your latest slapstick routine or give your funny co-worker the
opportunity to share some of the favorites told around the water cooler.
In these stressful economic times who couldn't use a good laugh? For
those 25-40 year olds who once frequented the Karoke bars and Texas
Hold 'em games, old style stand-up comedy is back. And thankfully the
Minneapolis comedy clubs are back not a moment too soon.
When you're in charge of a mixed group, you'd do well to find the
impossible, something that appeals to everyone. But among the
Minneapolis comedy clubs the impossible is possible. Comedy Sports Twin
Cities offers shows that are "fun enough for a bachelor party and clean
enough for your grandma." Every Thursday and Friday at 8 pm and
Saturday at 8 and 10:30 pm a mediator makes two teams of comedians
follow the wishes of the audience for guaranteed hilarity.
While the Minneapolis comedy clubs showcasing stand-up are a great way
to spend an evening, they aren't the only venues for comedy. The
Plymouth Playhouse in Plymouth and the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul
often include comedy in their wide-ranging choices of entertainment.
And stand-up comedy isn't the only game in town. There are also
musical, theatrical, and Vaudeville comedy acts. This week the Brave
New Workshop features the theatrical comedy "How to Make Love Like A
Minnesotan II: Love Is In Bloomington."
There is no shortage of laughs in the twin Cities. In fact, the area
has the second most theaters in the United States. Whether it's a
weekend or a weekday there is someplace to catch jokes from the career
professional funnymen to the local amateur who also holds down a day
job.
If it's a once-in-a-while night out on the town activity you seek or if
you're looking for a new frequent evening pursuit, then you can't have
more fun than visiting the Minneapolis comedy clubs. The ones mentioned
are but just a few of the many in the Twin Cities. Enjoy life. Go out
and get a good laugh.
